What made you become a PT?

Before completing my course, I was HE lecturer in organisational behaviour but after a bout of ill health I needed a job and clutched at personal training in desperation really. I had been training myself for 10 years and wanted to use that passion in a job.

I wanted to have a venue where people in the local community could come and train together in a supportive group environment, so I opened studio in Birstall. After successfully growing the client base I employed several members of staff, and I tend to run the business side of things these days, coaching around four hours a week.

How is business?

We’ve established a respected brand, with 50-100 clients accessing a full timetable. We have plans to expand over the next 1-2 years.

We have a track record in helping clients to achieve exceptional results in a healthy and sustainable way. We regularly help people to go from above 40 BMI to a healthy weight whilst increasing their strength and general fitness. There is no better feeling than seeing someone achieve their goals.

One of the most pleasing aspects of our work is that our clients’ changes in dietary and exercise habits generally filter through to their kids – so the whole family benefits. It’s nice to be able to impact people beyond those with whom we have direct contact.

How did Evolve Fitness Education help you?

I absolutely loved the course. The practical sessions were fun and informative. I would definitely recommend Evolve, especially to anyone who might be nervous about doing the course. Course providers are money driven with pushy salespeople. None of that with these guys. It was a great service at an appropriate price.

It was great meeting other people on the course. I’d come from a background of just lifting weights to look good and doing a bit of running, but there were people on the course from various backgrounds – rugby, Olympic lifting, CrossFit, ETM etc. I finished the course with a greater awareness of the fitness industry. This really helped my progression as a coach over the next few years.

I’m so glad I completed the course; I’ve never been happier.

What made you become a PT?

Before passing the course and establishing Fitmiss I worked as a Health care assistant, but I wanted to encourage people to stay active and feel good. I wanted to help them achieve their goals no matter how big or small.

I really wanted to focus on creating an environment where women would feel comfortable and empowered to achieve their goals and improve health, not just with my guidance but also with the support of a likeminded female community.

It’s the best decision I ever made! I get a lot of joy from helping people, seeing them achieve and progress. I also enjoy the flexibility of being self-employed.

How is business?

I currently have 18 clients committed to a 1:1 session at least twice a week, so a minimum of 36 sessions a week. The Fitmiss Bootcamp classes have around 25 regular attendees.

Many of my client’s goals focus on body fat loss and most have been highly successful in losing 3-4 stone but even more impressive that they have kept the weight off with the tools and knowledge I provided them.

As well as the physical benefits, my clients often gain confidence and live happier, healthier lives and I’m really proud to be able to contribute to the success of their journey.

How did Evolve Fitness Education help you?

Evolve gave me knowledge but also the confidence to help my clients.

I was worried initially; it was a huge commitment as a working mum, but the weekend course was fantastic. I enjoyed the practical side of the course the tutor always made it fun and varied and he was always on hand to answer any questions. Their communication was excellent.

I’ll always be grateful to Evolve. It’s nice to keep in touch with Dan, I often run ideas by him as I respect his opinion and knowledge he freely gives whenever its requested.

I’m so glad I decided to take the leap to qualify as a PT, it’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever done.

What made you become a PT?

I wanted to help people achieve their fitness goals. I’m passionate about training and fitness, so wanted my work to revolve around that. I was already training some of my friends for free so knew I thoroughly enjoyed it, so making it my living was a no brainer really.

Before becoming a PT, I worked in retail for a while, then was a roofer for a bit, before working behind reception at the first gym I went on to use as my PT venue for my client’s sessions. Moving into personal training made so much sense as it allows me to do a job that I have genuine passion for.

How is business?

I have around 25 – 30 clients on average. Roughly around 30 PT sessions per week, each with a range of goals and abilities.

I have had lots of success helping clients achieve the bodies they’ve always wanted. Although, some of the best client achievements have been more mental, such as overcoming depression, bouts of anxiety, or severe lack of confidence. With mental health being just as important as physical, having clients tell me that I’ve helped them overcome something as powerful as depression is an amazing feeling.

Client feedback has been very good, and recommendations are growing.

How did Evolve Fitness Education help you?

The PT course through Evolve Fitness Education helped me launch my successful business by giving me the foundation knowledge and confidence to start out.

I have since gone on to gain various additional qualifications and specialise in a number of areas, but Evolve Fitness Education showed me the ropes of training people and taught me how to begin my PT journey in the best way possible.

This was delivered through amazing teaching, information, and guidance, both throughout the course and afterwards. I can’t thank them enough
